Beginning of Book I
Two Kinds of Life—Our Choice
(A Preface to the Psalms)
He showed me a river of water of life…On this side of the river…was the tree of life…yielding its fruit every month…The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him…They will reign forever and ever – Revelation 2:1-5
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked,
–nor stand in the way of sinners,
–nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in Yahweh’s law.
–On his law he meditates day and night.
by the streams of water
He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water,
–that brings forth its fruit in its season,
–whose leaf also does not wither.
–Whatever he does shall prosper.
The wicked are not so,
–but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment,
–nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous,
–but the way of the wicked shall perish. [Psalm 1]
1. How do walk, stand, sit, wicked, sinners and scoffers all differ? How do you meditate?
2. What do fruit and leaf represent? Do you have these things? When is “the judgment”?
3. Yahweh, I choose to delight in your word and meditate on it always, please help me to…
